The Art and Science of Dynamic Combat™
Elements and System Structure
© 2003 Richard Ryan, Dynamic Combat

The martial art of Dynamic Combat™ or D.C.M. (Dynamic Combat Method™) comprises three main elements which when combined form a complete and unified system structure*.

The Philosophical Foundation sets forth our unique perspective on the martial arts (in general) and Dynamic Combat in particular and establishes the foundation for Dynamic Combat as a reality-based fighting art. The Theoretical Foundation further outlines those basic reality-based concepts and ideas and defines the rules of action and interaction and the components of ability, efficiency and victory in [any] combative engagement. And finally, the Technical Foundation provides the organization and training structure for all of the techniques, tactics and strategies within the martial art itself.

"The ultimate goal of any reality-based martial art must be the absolute freedom of expression and action in combat. This implies the ability to act and react with great skill but without conscious thought to any and all actions the opponent may take. Implicit in that directive is the ability to adapt to all situations and environments one may face in real combat. The system of Dynamic Combat is designed to thrust the student towards this ultimate goal as fast as humanly possible."
